Twine VG Assignment: How to Share Your Twine Game

Twiners—

You all may be wondering “How will I share my Twine game with you?” While I thought that you’d be able to embed the Twine game in your blog—or at least link to it—this doesn’t seem to be the case. Since the Twine Video Game assignment requires you to share your game with me, this post will walk you through (what seem to be) the best ways of doing so.

Option I: Export and E-Mail

1.) When your Twine game is complete, click on the gear logo in the upper right-hand corner of the game. Select “Publish to File.

2.) This will download your Twine game to your desktop in HTML format.

3.) Attach said HTML file to an e-mail and send it to me.

Alternatively, if this process doesn’t work, or if your file is too big to send via e-mail, here’s an alternative option.

Option II: Export and Host

1.) When your Twine game is complete, click on the gear logo in the upper right-hand corner of the game. Select “Publish to File.

2.) This will download your Twine game to your desktop in HTML format.

3.) Pull up philome.la, a site dedicated to hosting Twine games for free.

4.) Follow the steps on the screen. Unfortunately, you do have to create a Twitter account to use this service (sorry!). If you don’t already have one, then create a dummy account so that you can use the site.

Note: If you don’t want your game announced on Twitter by the @philomela_twine account, feel free to uncheck the corresponding box at the bottom of the screen.

5.) The next screen should display the name of your game along with a link that reads “Play.” Copy the link in the browser at the top of your screen (it should say “philome.la / [your Twitter username] / [name of your game]), and send it to me in an e-mail.

If you have questions about these processes or encounter any additional or unforeseen difficulties, let me know!
